SECTION 1.
(No. 45.)
Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received February 19.)
(Telegraphic.) P.
HANKOW-CANTON Railway.
Please refer to my telegram No. 41 of the 16th instant.
Peking, February 19, 1908.
I am informed by my French colleague that he has seen Chang Chih-tung, who is so far prepared to modify his views as to lead to the removal of the difficulties he had anticipated.
M. Bapst is, however, of the opinion that the conduct of the negotiations should be placed chiefly in the hands of Mr. Bland.
